hmm but technically if teams aren't fired, teams like Denmark who would be better off still aren't going youths, shouldn't they be doing so?

Not realistic. In real life WC qualifyings, you dont see San Marino playing 16yo's...

I'd imagine they would try and bring some youth players through if they were already knocked out.

Interesting!

It's been said so many times before, it's more of a donation than a payment really. Anyway, there is plenty of opportunity for paying managers who don't have many points but have National Teams. Stephen (Ulsan) is already at his second National Team. He's only been playing about 2 months longer than you. Admittedly, he's got about 200 points more but that's because he's promoted his team to division 2 last season. I would say if your team is doing well next season in division 3 you should be picking up a lot of manager points and will be definitely able to pick up a National Team soon.

The World Cup Group matches have all been played. Football associations across the globe have compared their achievement to their goal and some have concluded that their team is in the need of a new face. Hence, the following managers have been fired and the corresponding national teams will tomorrow be available for application:

Austria - Friedo Van Laer
Bosnia and Herzegovina - Eddie Babylon
Brazil - Angel Bodanov
Chile - Gerry Verschueren
Colombia - Riet Bloemen
Denmark - Zied Ayari
Israel - Kurt Brun
Latvia - Douglas Mcclure
Norway - Kris Steen
Republic of Korea - Stephen Harrison
Switzerland - Daniel Bartolo

We have received several complaints about NT abuse and these complaints proved to be valid complaints. I regret that I have to make this post, but here it goes: The following manager have been fired for the reason of NT abuse:

Iceland - Pedro Moises Machado
Mexico - Peter Herwijn
Paraguay - Adam Kroon
Ukraine - Armando Ribeiro

These people broke the following rule:

- Act like a real manager and try to do the best job possible in the World Cup.

This rule goes with the following explanation given earlier: "This rule should be interpreted as to mean that you should try to reach as close to the winning the World Cup during the current season by using the best possible line-up... You have NOT reached your NT goal, and are mathematically NOT qualified for the next round of the World Cup: You DO have to line up the strongest team during the upcoming NT match."
I'm surprised, disappointed and unhappy about the high number of NT abuses. I realise that some of the manager involved may have had good intentions and/or may have been ignorant. Unfortunately we cannot distinguish these from the ones who intentionally took the gamble of getting away with their conduct. I totally agree with Paul's statement above: Being able to manage a national team is an honour. That even used to be explicitly stated in the Rules/FAQ. One can argue that sometimes the game needs people who care less about the rules. Yet, in this case the choice is made in favour of keeping the NT management job one of honour. The managers involved will have to wait for season 29 to start in order to be able to legally apply for a national team again. During season 28, they are not allowed to manage a national team.

I expect a number of managers to disagree with the decisions taken, maybe based on the high number of abuses. But I think that it would not be fair to refrain from the execution of an earlier emphasised rule simply on "tentative evidence (the high number of abuses) that ignorance with the case for abuse". Also, some of the managers mentioned above have personally benefitted from their behaviour by giving at least one of their team's undeveloped players the opportunity to play a national team match. Without accusing anyone of deliberately abusing the rules I point to this fact to illustrate that some facts are not really favourable to these managers. The decision to actually execute the rule above among other NT rules was inspired upon (complaints about) unrealistic, illogical and unfair line up choices and the resulting disputes. Above all, behaviour in accordance with the NT rules is realistic.

The National Teams involved will be available for application tomorrow.

Indeed, Sweden was already sure before the match that this matches would not have lead to the firing of its managers. This is a rule that only holds during the knock-out rounds.

As a result of exhaustion I unjustly fired Nicolas from Argentina. Hence today's applications for that NT are useless.

I've made Nuno fix it, but some history entries may still need to be deleted. It took a while before Nuno came online.
