A win was the bare minimum for Westerlo and they didn't disappoint, winning with the minimum of fuss in Bratislava. Olivier Van Vlasselaer scored midway through the first half with an exquisite volley and young winger Enver Carevic, who has been nothing short of impressive since signing with the club, rounded off the scoring before half time. The only downside was Mike Van Tittelboom's sending off in the 51st minute, but the second stringer's suspension is not likely to cause much of a worry as Westerlo keep in touch with the laaders.

Alajuelense weren't expected to take much from this match, but were positively annihilated within minutes of the game start, left shell shocked by half time as an early Yokohama onslaught virtually killed the game as a contest. Goran Vukojevic was the hero for the visitors, scoring a brace, while young Japanese striker Igarashi accounted for two assists as well as his opening goal.

Orgryte IS were similarly put to the sword against a rampant Jeunesse side. Though it took a little longer for the first score to appear on the board, the taking apart of the visitors was no less clinical. Enrique Hernández was the main thorn in the opposition's side, slicing the defence open with some sublime passes and also helping himself to a brace. Aminu Debrah was exceptional in goal, keeping a clean sheet for this outing.
Santiago Wanderers 1 - 1 Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor seem to be slipping away from the promotion battle as they followed up last week's disappointing draw with another tie away to Santiago. Their disciplinary problems reared its head once again as defender Zurza received his marching orders after his side had taken the lead. Santiago took advantage of their numerical advantage and forced in an equaliser soon after.

The Red Devils seem to have taken heart from the credible outing against Trabzonspor, winning comfortably against a troubled AGF. Wright-Phillips showed that he was back in form again, as did his mates Roque and Onishi, who have carried the team by themselves for certain periods this season. As for AGF, things are going from bad to worse. The writing is on the wall, and they'll have to fight their hardest to stay in the division beyond the end of this season.

Both sides have had their ups and downs this season, a season which has promised much but delivered little so far thanks to horribly inconsistent performances. It was perhaps fitting then, that this match was a close one, with punters claiming it was too close to call in the first place. Ultimately, it came down to the more disciplined side as Slavia Praha snatched victory thanks to goal from D.Salvatierra and Guillermo Marino. The veterans aren't sure what the future holds for them, but they're still putting in their all week after week and the fans appreciate it.
